Catch up

I know it's been a long time since I have blogged.  I knew that would happen after L&P ended.  I just never feel that I have enough to write about.  I was sick for a while too with a pretty fierce sinus infection, lasted almost 5 weeks, and not sure I am still over it, even after 2 rounds of antibiotics.

I think I have GERD now, so I need to see the doctor to see what we can do.  I have constant acid reflux now and chest pains from it.  UGH!

I am determined to lose some weight this year and do some exercising.  I hope that once the weather warms up we can take weekend trips to parks to walk/hike.  I also plan to get a treadmill if we get to a point where we stop having things break or sick pets.  Let's see, since September we've had to put $600 into one of the cars, $450 for a new water heater that burst, $600 down for unexpected bathroom repair/remodel, $400 for vet bill, and now we think our oven is dying.  Blah,  I hope it can be fixed, oven part won't ignite right away, takes about 3 tries to turn it on for it to ignite, range part works fine.

Work is busy but good,  I am enjoying the new job.  Not that I didn't feel I was part of the management team at my other location, but I feel much more involved in the new management team.  There are only 3 of us over a staff of 40 some people, where there was 5 of us over 26 people at my other location.  Also being the lead of a department (ILL) is fun, but a little scary too.  It's cool to be working on a pilot project with OCLC and I was just charged with writing up a return on investment for the pilot to see if it's something we want can continue in our current financial situation.  We believe it's a cost saver, especially with increased ILLs due to lower book budgets and increased usage, because we continually get more and more ILL requests each month.  We process about 600-700 incoming requests a month, and send out about 350 requests a month, I believe that's up signficantly over last year.  I did some stats but I can't remember, something like 30% increase in requests over the same period last year.

Enough about work.  We bought a new camera as an xmas gift to us, I am disappointed with indoor shots, but it's got so many advanced features I am not used to that I am sure much of the problem is from user error. :)  I can't wait to use it outdoors in sunny weather.

I just bought a new online game, Lord of the Rings Online.  I've been playing a trial for the past week or so and have been enjoying it.  I got the game at Best Buy for half off so I feel like I got a deal, especially if I don't end up playing it too long.  I won't feel as if I wasted my money, but got my money's worth instead.

Chris is going to a funeral today of a co-worker, so I am just going to laze around today as usual on the weekend. LOL.  I really can't wait to get some exercising and weight loss in so I get the energy back.  Although it's cold out there today, so a nice day to stay in and do nothing (but gaming of course). :)

I hope it won't be another 5 weeks before I post again.  You can always catch me on twitter (swillard).

Until next time.

Hey Stace! Glad to see you posting again. Sorry you have been so sick.

ILL is so interesting to me. I bet staff would be interested to occassionally see on CMLsi what we are processing in and out. Neat to have a book come all the way from Alaska or vice versa.

    Miss you!
